Driving Tips
Tasmania's roads are scenic but often narrow and winding, especially on the west coast. Road surfaces can be uneven in remote areas. Wildlife is very active at dusk — wombats, Tasmanian devils, and wallabies are common on roads. The speed limit is generally 100km/h on open roads and 50km/h in towns. Fuel stations are less frequent on the west coast — fill up when you can.
Caravan Parks & Campgrounds
Hobart Airport Tourist Park is convenient for a first night. Barilla Holiday Park (just north of Hobart) has great facilities. For the east coast, Freycinet Holiday Park is perfectly located for Wineglass Bay. Cradle Mountain Discovery Holiday Park puts you right at the national park entrance.
